Abuja, Feb. 16, 2018 (NAN) The Environmental Health Officers Registration Council (EHORECON) has urged the Federal Ministry of Environment to employ more professionals to enhance sanitation across the country.

Mr Andy Ukah made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Abuja.

He attributed the lack of enough personnel to carry out these functions as the reason for dubious persons impersonating as environmental health officers involving in illegal enforcement activities.

“So government should engage more hands to prevent illegal activities by those fake people who claim to be officials of the environmental health officers,’’ he said.

Ukah added that the recruitment of more personnel would avert diseases as well as assist in mobilising and covering national sanitation activities.

“When the number of the officers increased in all states, even up to the local areas, it will assist to cover the national sanitation.

Meanwhile, Ukah disclosed that the council had arraigned some people over alleged impersonation at Area Court, Kubwa, FCT.

He said that on Jan. 17, the Environmental Health Officers were arrested the people at Lion Share Bakery in Kubwa, who were on inspect of the premises.

He said the people were brought to the Kubwa Police Station on the same day, adding that the case was taken to the court on Feb. 16.
