Onuzulike also said that the foundation trained the beneficiaries, in collaboration with the state Ministry of Youth and Sports.

He said, “In spite of the challenges in sourcing materials, funding and logistics, the organisation’s resolve to equip youths and women with vocational and entrepreneurial skills remains unwavering and unrelenting.”

He commended Gov. Peter Mbah for his support and providing the enabling environment for the foundation to thrive.

He, however, appealed for start-up grants for the graduands, a shared facility for NAFDAC approval and a bus for the foundation.

In a speech, Dep. Gov. Ifeanyi Ossai described the foundation’s initiative in the realm of education and economic empowerment as commendable.

Ossai, represented by the Secretary, Enugu State Boundary Committee, Dr Solomon Ejim, said that government alone could not solve the unemployment problem in the country.

According to him, it is through partnerships with committed non-profit and non-governmental organisations, like TPWF, that sustainable development and meaningful progress can be achieved.

He hailed the efforts of the foundation, saying: “Your dedication to creating opportunities, fostering education and providing support for the less privileged serves as a beacon of hope for many.

“The impact of your work resonates across our society, touching lives and transforming the future of many.

“By providing financial literacy training, entrepreneurial support and microfinance opportunities, you are helping individuals and families break the cycle of poverty and achieve self-sufficiency.”

Also speaking, the Commissioner for Children, Gender Affairs and Social Development, Mrs Ngozi Enih, said that the ministry was happy partnering with the foundation in training women.

Enih advised the participants to make use of what they learnt, saying that no knowledge is a waste.

“This training is to empower and lift you out of poverty, which is in line with Gov. Peter Mbah’s policy of eradicating poverty in the state.

“I want the foundation to include agriculture in the training for the next batch because it is a lucrative business,” she said.

A participant, Chioma Enyinnaya, commended Onuzulike, saying that she could fend for herself and family with what she learnt from the training.

“I learnt how to make black soap and when I displayed it online, I received order from abroad.

“The platform has given me an opportunity to do those things I didn’t know how to do before,” Enyinnaya said. (NAN) (www.nannews.ng)

  • Why more marriages break up – Counsellors

    Marriage

    By Moronke Boboye

Lagos, June 30, 2024 (NAN) Some Nigerians  have expressed worries at the rampant cases of broken homes and the effects  on the society.

They are concerned that the current economic hardship may increase divorce and separation in the country.

The  citizens spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos.

Dr Jumoke Aina, a mother and an educator, told NAN that broken homes often resulted from divorce, separation and abandonment.

According to her, these situations can be triggered  by marital conflicts, infidelity, financial difficulties, substance abuse, domestic violence and incompatibility between partners.

Aina said that the consequences of marriage breakups on the children included emotional distress, academic failure and behavioural problems.

Aina added that people from broken homes had  increased rates of juvenile delinquency, crime and substance abuse.

Aina said that broken homes could  be avoided or minimised through provision of access to professional counselling,  which could assist  couples to resolve conflicts and improve communication.

Also speaking, Prof. Folasade  Alade, a specialist  in family sex and marital counselling, also attributed marriage breakups to financial challenges, lack of communication, infidelity, incompatibility and in-law interferences.

Alade said that the psychological and emotional impacts of home breaking on  children included low self-esteem, depression, anxiety and aggression.

“As a lecturer, I easily recognise  anyone from broken home in the school because they are aggressive, not always happy, and they are bullies.

“It really has negative effects on the society especially on our citadel of learning. They  mix with the good ones and they corrupt some of them, ” she said.

Alade said that  broken homes could be prevented with tolerance and  patience in marriages.

“Since the two people who are joined together in marriage come from different backgrounds, a significant amount of patience and tolerance is, therefore, needed to prevent broken homes,” she said.

Dr Abimbola Oladotun, Founder, Happily Ever After Counselling, a non-governmental organisation, told NAN that divorce was a disease that should be denied entrance into one’s marital life.

According to her, divorce eats up the bodies, hearts and souls of those affected.

Oladotun added that  hardness of heart among partners was a major cause of broken marriages.

“As humans, couples would hurt themselves in different ways, intensities and frequencies, but if couples would practise ‘advance forgiveness’, that way, each partner can decide to forgive the wrong his/her spouse is yet to commit, ” she said.

According to her,  divorce makes some children to become miscreants.

She that the concept of  ‘leaving and cleaving’ would also help to reduce divorce and separation.

“Most couples go into marriage not leaving their past, mistakes, fears, and wrong assumptions of the other gender, and  they begin to play out in little things,” she said.

A lawyer and human right activist, Mr Kabir Akingbolu, said that many present-day marriages were too  casually prepared for and arranged, leaving the couples not truly knowing themselves.

“A broken home, often times,  produces irresponsible and pspsychologically-imbalanced children. These children  lack patience and it leads to vices such as stealing/ robbery.

“By addressing the causes and implementing supportive measures, the negative impacts of broken homes on the society can be reduced, fostering a healthier and a more stable community,” he said. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)

  • Education financing not for govt alone, philanthropists can assist – Minister

Dr Emeka Offor (3rd from left); Dr Adaora Offor (4th from left) with friends at the reception held in Abuja in honour of the doctorate degree awards (honours) by the University of Nigeria Nsukka and Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka.

    Assistance

    By Funmilayo Adeyemi

Abuja, June 30, 2024 (NAN) The Minister of Education, Prof. Tahir Mamman, has called on private individuals and philanthropists to assist the government in funding education in the country.

Mamman made the plea in Abuja at an event organised in honour of Dr Emeka Offor and wife, Dr Adaora Offor, who were honoured with doctorate degrees.

They were awarded the degrees in Business Administration and Social Advocacy (Honours) respectively by the University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN) and Nnamdi Azikiwe University (NAU), Awka, Anambra.

The minister said, though the government had spent so much in funding education, private individuals and philanthropists needed to emulate what Emeka Offor and wife had done through their Foundation, to support education.

“The ministry is encouraged with this kind of recognition because the government cannot finance education alone, just as it has contributed a lot.

“That is why people like Emeka Offor and wife have stepped in, and what they are doing should be encouraged by others. I believe this is an excellent example of resources well used and I urged others to take a cue from what they have done,” Mamman said.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the couple through Sir Emeka Offor Foundation (SEOF) created an endowment fund of N150 million for research and scholarly enterprise, in the faculties of Business Administration and Social Science of UNN and NAU respectively.

While UNN received N100 million for research activities and scholarly enterprise that will impact the Faculty of Business Administration, NAU received N50 million for welfare of widows, children with special needs and other vulnerable members of the society.

The Minister commended the donors for their kind gesture, expressing the hope that the endowment funds would be judiciously used for what they were meant for.

“The good thing is that the endowment is tied to particular activities in the universities and there are clear terms for usage and I believe that the institutions will utilise the money,” he added.

Mamman urged philanthropists and kind hearted individuals to also invest in the Federal Government safe school initiative to protect school children from attacks and other forms of violence.

The celebrant and donor, Chief Emeka Offor, said the endowment funds would be a restricted one where the principal sum would be held in perpetuity except otherwise decided by SEOF and the Universities.

Offor said the earnings from the invested assets would be expended according to the donor’s specifications, i.e. funding of research and
scholarly enterprise in the Faculty of Business Administration and Social Science of both universities.

“This gesture is our desire towards supporting higher education in Nigeria and strengthening the bond of friendship between the SEOF and the UNN/NAU.

“By the time you create opportunities just like we have done to these universities, you are reducing the suffering of the masses by creating opportunities for the youths to get the right job.

“We gave those monies as endowment funds and there are conditions attached for the usage; what that means is that the funds will be invested in high-yielding portfolios, not a risky one.

“We don’t want to hear that the money was lost in a bank because they were looking for higher yields; what we want from this N150 million is to remain in the university system to support research, encourage professional exchanges with other countries to acquire knowledge.

“The principal sum shall be maintained in a high-yielding but legitimate investment platform wherein SEOF and UNN/NAU shall nominate the signatories.

“There shall be a committee to be set up between SEOF and UNN/NAU to manage the funds and take decisions as appropriate,” he said.

Offor added that there must be a status report to be made available by the committee to both parties every 12 calendar months.

Prof. Romanus Ezeokonkwo, the acting Vice Chancellor of UNN, assured that the fund would be judiciously used.

He said; the donors mentioned what they want to do with the money and we will follow it judiciously and there will be no diversion.

“It will be used to do what it was meant for, I assure you that.” (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that on assumption of office as the 39th COAS on June 22, 2023, Lagbaja expressed commitment to the decimation of terrorists and their enclaves, to restore the people’s confidence in the military and security agencies.

He had said “My philosophy of command as the Chief of Army Staff is to transform the Nigerian Army into a well-trained, equipped, and highly effective force to fulfill our constitutional responsibilities in a joint environment”.

Impressed with Lagbaja’s achievements thus far, critical stakeholders have commended his leadership style, extolling the many sustained onslaught against terrorists across the country.

The respondents said it was commendable that the COAS had continued to march his words with action, with the resultant extermination of daredevil terrorists and decapitation of their strongholds in the last 12 months.

According to them, this is a testament that the renewed hope promised Nigerians by the military hierarchy is indeed real.

NAN investigation shows the military troops remain consistent in the onslaught against terrorism and insurgency nationwide, with minimal casualties.

Some of the recorded successes by the military troops include the elimination of the once daredevil terrorist, Boderi Isyaku, and the notorious terrorist commander, Buharin Yadi.

Others included the capturing of terrorists enclaves, destruction of illegal refineries, recovering of several weapons and rescue of kidnapped victims among others.

The Minister of State for Defence, Dr Bello Muhammed Matawalle, commended the Nigerian Military for neutralising and bringing to an end the terror reign of Isyaku and his cohorts in Kaduna State.

Boderi, as he was simply known, had for nearly a decade propagated a reign of fear, death and destruction in Kaduna State and neighboring Niger State.

NAN reports that the notorious bandit, insurgent and ruthless killer, Isyaku, was neutralised in a gun duel alongside some of his fighters, by troops of the Nigerian Military, around Bada/Riyawa general areas of Chikun and Igabi Local Government Areas (LGAs).

The minister’s commendation was convened in a statement by the ministry’s Director of Information and Public Relations, Henshaw Ogubike.

Matawalle, who was elated described the action of the military as commendable, saying it was a reassurance of President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to providing adequate security in every part of the country.

He said, “the bravery and professionalism of the Nigerian military involved are commendable and need to be sustained so that we can stem out insecurity from the country”.

The minister had also applauded the military’s efforts in the elimination of 286 terrorists and the arrest of of 244 of them, 73 crude oil smugglers arrested and 122 kidnapped victims rescued in February,

He summed up the feat saying “the major breakthrough has been recorded in Nigeria’s fight against banditry and terrorism by his fall”.

Matawalle then charged other state actors to cooperate with the Federal Government in the fight against insurgency and terrorism.

He reiterated Federal Government’s unflinching support and readiness to sustain cooperation towards eradicating terrorism in Nigeria.

Similarly, the National Security Adviser (NSA), Mr Nuhu Ribadu, had also lauded the military troops over the sustained successes in the ongoing fight against insecurity across the country.

Ribadu spoke in Abuja at the Chief of Defence Intelligence Annual Conference, which had the theme: ‘Leveraging Defence Diplomacy and Effective Regional Collaboration for Enhanced National Security’.

He said the armed forces under the current leadership had shown serious commitment to addressing the prevailing security challenges bedevilling the country, adding that there were positive changes and improvement both in and outside Nigeria.

“They have done an amazingly good job without talking and I believe that with the support and the resolve of the leadership that we have today in our country, things will only be better,” he said.

For the Minister of Defence, Alhaji Muhammed Badaru, he urged the Nigerian Defence Attachés and Advisers, deployed to different countries to leverage on collaboration to proffer solution to some of the nation’s security challenges.

Badaru said that for any country’s defence strategy to succeed, it must recognise the critical role of diplomacy in reducing military mix as well as possible and shared understanding for enhanced national security.

And leveraging on such collaborative efforts, the different theatre troops have lived up to the challenge, recording onslaught against terrorists.

Giving account of some of its recent operations, the Director, Defence Media Operations, Maj.-Gen. Edward Buba, said terrorists’ camps, which were newly discovered, were acquired through Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR).

According to him, they were targeted and engaged with rockets and cannons.

He said the feedback had revealed that several of the terrorists, including some of the commanders were indeed neutralised as a result of the air strikes.

Buba said that similar air interdiction was conducted on June 8, overhead a terrorists’ enclave in Safana LGA of Katsina State, following confirmatory ISR.

According to him, the Battle Damage Assessment revealed that several terrorists were eliminated and their structures destroyed.

He added that on June 6, the air component of Operation Whirl Punch conducted air interdiction on a senior terrorist commander enclave at Tsaunin Doka in Igabi LGA of Kaduna State.

According to him, battle damage assessment and feedback from locals revealed that several terrorists with high profile commanders were eliminated and their logistics destroyed.

“Similarly, on the same day, confirmatory ISR indicated terrorist activities in a terrorists’ camp within Shiroro LGA of Niger, killing several terrorists,” he added.

In Delta, the Defence Headquarters also disclosed that troops of Operation Delta Safe, within a one- week period discovered and destroyed 43 illegal refining sites and apprehended 32 suspected oil thieves.

Buba explained that troops had maintained momentum against the activities of crude oil thieves and recovered large quantities of stolen products.

He said the troops recovered over 700,000 metric tonnes of crude, 8,360 litres of stolen crude oil, 143,450 litres of illegally refined AGO, 1,100 litres of DPK and 18,750 litres of PMS.

He further said that the troops also discovered and destroyed 29 dugout pits, 22 boats and 26 storage tanks, among others

He added that the troops apprehended 32 suspected oil thieves and other violent extremists and recovered 13 weapons and 442 assorted ammunition.

“Other items recovered include 66 cooking ovens, eight vehicles and 43 illegal refining sites among others.”

Buba said the troops also conducted raid operations and apprehended violent extremists/cultists in Uruan and Ovia North-East LGAs of Akwa Ibom, Edo as well as Onelga and Nembe LGAs of Rivers and Bayelsa.

Also commending the military, the Kaduna State Government, also confirmed that troops of Sector 6 Operation Whirl Punch killed terrorist kingpin, Buharin Yadi, along with dozens of his fighters.

The State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Mr Samuel Aruwan, confirmed that in a statement.

Aruwan said, “the infamous terrorist Buharin Yadi, one of the deadliest bandit leaders terrorising Northern Nigeria in the last decade, met his bitter end at the hands of security forces.

“The troops of Sector 6 Operation Whirl Punch rained down fire on the kingpin known as Buhari Alhaji Halidu (alias Buharin Yadi) and his cohorts, abruptly terminating their ignominious spell of terror.

“Halidu was neutralised in a fierce battle with the troops under the coordination of their Commander, General Officer Commanding 1 Division, Nigerian Army, Maj.-Gen. Mayirenso Saraso.

“This took place around Idasu forest at the boundaries between Giwa Local Government Area(LGA) of Kaduna State and Sabuwa LGA of Katsina State.”

He said the troops began the covert operation in response to intelligence reports on terrorists’ movement from Samunaka and Saulawa areas of Katsina State.

“On advancing to Samunaka, the troops found the settlement destroyed and cattle killed, evidence of recent criminal activity by the bandits.

“A ferocious battle quickly followed, as approaching terrorists were pounded with artillery rounds at Hayin Almajiri, “he said.

Aruwan noted that the troops then fought bravely through an ambush, to attain their objective. “Initial assessments indicated that at least 36 bandits were eliminated in the engagement.

“it was eventually verified that one of those neutralised was Buharin Yadi.”

He explained that Yadi and his brigands under his command had been unleashing terror on citizens in Kidandan/Galadimawa areas of Giwa LGA.

He named other areas that had been attacked by the fell terrorist to include Sabon Birni/Kerawa areas of Igabi LGA, communities near Sabuwa LGA of Katsina State, and indeed some parts of Niger and Zamfara State.

He said Yadi was involved in large-scale cattle rustling, arms trading and drug trafficking.

“He had led his gang in the pillaging of communities and the slaughter and kidnapping of thousands of citizens in Kaduna and neighboring states.

“The merciless bandit was also known to have links with other deadly terrorist groups in the Northeast and Northwest.

“The breakthrough brings to an end a manhunt by security forces for this terrorist, which stretched more than five years.

“The news of his demise spread like wildfire, triggering massive relief and widespread celebrations among locals spanning Kaduna and Katsina States, “he said.

Aruwan said Gov. Uba Sani of Kaduna state, expressed his elation at the development, which he described as a pointer to the bravery, pro-activeness and sheer efficiency of the troops involved.

The Governor commended the GOC, Maj.- Gen Saraso for his sterling leadership, and lauded the troops for the comprehensive victory.

Gov. Sani reassured security forces in Kaduna State of his unflinching support and the continued collaborative stance of the Government

“Members of the public are hereby informed that some of the terrorists sustained gunshot injuries during the encounter.

” Citizens in the general area and beyond are therefore enjoined not to render assistance (medical or otherwise) to individuals carrying suspicious injuries, but to immediately report such to security agencies, “Aruwan said.

He said the Kaduna State Security Operations Room was available 24 hours a day to receive reports of this nature on the phone lines: 09034000060 and 08170189999.

Again, the Defence Headquarters, on June 13, disclosed that the air  components of the operations had destroyed several terrorist camps operated by notorious terrorist commanders, Bello Turji’s and Halilu in Zamfara and Katsina States.

The army, in a post on its official X Handle, on June 16, said the terrorist was in transit to commit mayhem during the recent Eid-el Kabir celebration in Giwa LGA of Kaduna State.

It said the terrorist met his waterloo when troops on patrol to Kidandan, a village in Giwa LGA, spotted him speeding off on a motorbike, in an attempt to evade the approaching patrol team.

According to the post, the vigilant troops swiftly pursued the terrorist, causing him to abandon his motorbike and fled into a nearby settlement.

“Undeterred, the troops continued to trail the fleeing terrorist until they successfully caught up and neutralised him, while frantically trying to escape into the bush, at the outskirts of the community.

“Upon searching the area, the troops recovered the abandoned motorbike, two bags containing corn flour, and a mobile phone from the neutralised terrorist.

“Further verification by operatives from the intelligence community confirmed the identity of the terrorist as one Daushe, a known cohort of Buharin Yadi, who had been recently neutralised by troops in the same area.”

Buba reassured citizens that “The military is on ground and we are fighting. Ours is to fight the terrorists and destroy them.

“In this month alone, even yesterday, we lost nine personnel, which is a testament that we are working tirelessly to bring peace, to secure the land and create a safe environment for the people.

“I will end this by saying that it is close to impossible to win this war without the support of the people because of the caliber of people involved in kidnapping in Zamfara,” he said.

Determined to sustain the high level onslaught against terrorists, Lagbaja on June 15, announced that the 5,937 soldiers, who recently passed out from the Depot Nigeria Army in Zaria, would be deployed to fight banditry, cattle rustling and related crimes.

Lagbaja, who spoke at the passing out parade for the 86 regular recruit intake of the Depot Nigeria Army, in Zaria, noted that the new men would form part of the solution to numerous security challenges bedeviling the country.

“The fresh products passing out today will form part of the solution to the challenge of insurgency in the north-east, banditry and cattle rustling in the north-west.

“They will fight the farmers/herders clashes in the north-central, secessionist agitation and cultism in the south-east, militancy and vandalism of critical national assets and infrastructure in the south-south and south-west.”

And to boost the troops morale, Lagbaja openly appreciated their exceptional gallantry.

And at the Chief of Army Staff Sallah Luncheon with Troops of the Operation Whirl Punch in Birnin Gawri LGA of Kaduna State on June 16, he said.

” Your efforts are crucial to our national security, and I assure you that your sacrifices will not go unnoticed.

“There is no doubt that the “Feast of Sacrifice,” as it is known, is one of the significant celebrations in the Islamíc calendar during which Muslims demonstrate their obedience to Allah by sacrificing animals.

” it has been a year of unquantifiable sacrifice in blood and treasure as we have lost gallant warriors and precious equipment to our ongoing fight against insurgency, terrorism, banditry, secessionist agitations, and oil-related economic crimes, amongst others.

“Our men have displayed uncommon courage and faith in our dear country in the face of grave danger and, like the good soldiers that they are, come out victorious for our nation.

“Many bear the badge of courage and bravery in the form of battle scars and deformities, while others are lucky to only have memories and stories to tell of their sacrifice to our beloved country, “ he said.

Lagbaja enjoined the Nigerian Army personnel and their family members to renew their commitment to personal sacrifice for the growth and development of our great country, Nigeria.

“This year’s Eid-el-Kabir particularly calls for introspection on how we have fared as individuals and an army.

“As it comes just six days to  completing my one year in office as Chief of Army Staff, it is a period to reflect on the past year and show gratitude to God for the gift of life, relative peace that we have been able to restore to most parts of our country, and above all, hope for a better Nigeria.’”

With Lagbaja’s encouraging words and the troops’ sustained high spirits, it is only hoped that critical stakeholders especially citizens, will also play their patriotic duties in supporting the fight against insurgency with credible information to all relevant security forces.(NAN)(www.nannews.ng)

    By Salif Atojoko

Abuja, June 30, 2024 (NAN) President Bola Tinubu has condemned the bomb attacks which resulted in loss of lives and maiming of citizens in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno.

Tinubu, in a statement by Chief Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President, Media and Publicity, on Sunday, declared that the purveyors of wanton violence would have a certain encounter with justice.

He said the cowardly attacks were only but an isolated episode, as his government would not allow the nation to slither into an era of fear, tears, sorrow, and blood.

The President described the attacks as desperate acts of terror and a clear manifestation of the pressure mounted against terrorists, and the success achieved in degrading their capacity to launch offensives.

He stated that his administration was taking necessary measures to secure citizens.

Tinubu emphasised that efforts would be redoubled to ensure that those who troubled the nation, dispatching precious lives and disrupting law and order, were completely removed.

He condoles with the victims of the attacks, the families of the deceased, as well as the government and people of Borno State.(NAN) (www.nannews.ng)

Businessman rewards policeman who rejected N150m bribe with land

    Reward

    By Patricia Amogu

Abuja ,June 30, 2024 (NAN) An Abuja-based businessman, Prince Chukwuemeka Okoye, has gifted Ibrahim Sini, a Superintendent of Police Ibrahim, a plot of land in Abuja for turning down a 150 million naira bribe allegedly offered to him by a defendant.

Okoye, who is the Managing Director/CEO of Vegas homes Ltd, said at a party he organised to honour the policeman that Sini’s rejection of the bribe was an act that helped him retain his most valuable assets – integrity and peace of mind – which he maintained are his core values in life.

Okoye, said Sini’s conduct remains exemplary and should inspire others and Nigerians to note that the Nigerian Police Force has men of integrity and good conduct and reminded citizens that indeed police is our friend.

He said, “SP Sini’s actions have not only brought honour to himself and the Nigeria Police Force but have also inspired countless others to stand firm against corruption and uphold the highest ethical standards.

“His integrity serves as a beacon of hope, demonstrating that even in challenging circumstances, it is possible to remain true to one’s values.

“This honour is aimed at not only appreciating the laudable conduct of Superintendent Ibrahim Sini but to demonstrate that society appreciates individuals of integrity and good conduct.

“We want to also show that the Nigerian Police Force has officers that are professional and who live above board;  with the right incentives to engage in meaningful policing they can be worthy examples,” he said.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the defendant, a Lagos-based businessman (names withheld) who was lleged to have offered the policeman the 150 million naira bribe had been arraigned at the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory FCT, Abuja in 2023

The Inspector General of Police, through his counsel, Mr Simon Lough (SAN) had brought the charge against the defendant on the allegation that he offered the policeman the said sum to suppress an investigation regarding a petition against him by an international oil firm operating in Nigeria.

The charge further indicated that the defendant made a partial payment of 50 million naira to a team of investigators led by one Ibrahim Ezekiel Sini, of the Federal Investigation Bureau.

Speaking at the party organised in his honour, Sini said he rejected the bribe in order to retain his most valuable assets – integrity and peace of mind.

According to him, the two elements are his core values in life.

“I am very happy to be here and I want to appreciate the organisers of this programme.

“They have surpassed my imagination and have added more grease to my elbow.

“I remember when the incident happened, the person in question asked me, if I wanted to be rich?

“It was an opportunity for me to be rich. The bribe was offered to enable him to escape abroad and to influence me to write a favourable report about him after the investigation.

“I said to him that it depended on the kind of riches he was talking about because I would like to have riches that would make it difficult to lay my head down and sleep at night.

“So, I decided to do the right thing so that I can have peace of mind, not just for myself but for my organisation, that is, the Nigeria Police Force and also for the country at large,” he said.

He called on the youth to stand for justice and integrity always no matter the circumstances.

He further advised young people in the country not to trade their integrity for anything immoral.

“Integrity counts. It is possible to be in the middle of a lot of challenges and the storms of life and still be upright.

“Nigeria is our country and Nigeria shall be great,” he added.

While presenting the title deeds of the land to Sini, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Commissioner of Police, Mr Benneth Igweh said the policeman’s conduct has brought pride to the Nigerian Police.

“We are proud of you, I want to let you know that your conduct has brought pride to the Nigeria Police Force and I i will continue to look out for you and encourage you to be the best example for others to follow.

“We urge other members of the force to emulate SP Sini.

“His integrity serves as a beacon of hope, demonstrating that even in challenging circumstances, it is possible to remain true to one’s values.

“This honour is aimed at not only appreciating the laudable conduct of Superintendent Ibrahim Sini but to demonstrate that society appreciates individuals of integrity and good conduct,” he said. (NAN) (www.nannews.ng)
