Abuja, Feb. 28, 2018 (NAN) Morin Obaweya, Creative Director, Morin O, on Tuesday, showcased the potentials of the Nigerian leather industry with the launch of her latest handbags and shoes, tagged: ‘Floral Fusion’.
‘Floral Fusion’ includes a collection of leather bags and shoes with beautifically crafted flower niceties, worked into the leather, producing wonderful aesthetics.
Obaweya, who spoke on inspiration behind the designs, told News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the line was inspired by the beauty of nature; we incorporated motifs and henna designs into new handbags and shoes line.

She further stated that the need to incorporate that beauty into essential accessories such as handbags and shoes pushed her to design the line.
Obaweya, who is a pharmacist turned leather accessories designer, urged the Federal Government to revitalise the leather industry, to enable those in the leather value chain contribute effectively to the economic growth and development of the country.
Speaking further on the brand, she said Morin O, started five years ago, and is also committed to providing classy made in Nigeria leatherworks that Nigerians will prefer to rock over foreign products.
“Morin o is an offshoot of another creative business, borne out of the need to provide Nigerians with beautiful leather accessories that we can be proud of.
“We pay attention to detail, provide customer satisfaction and go the extra mile makes the brand stand out,” Obayewa said.
NAN reports that the launch featured several runway sessions with models pairing bags from the line with their outfits, to the delight of an impressed audience.

One of the guests, who spoke to NAN, said that she was delighted that a made in Nigeria brand upheld wonderful standards in its designs.
Mrs. Felicia Ojih said, “the launch has been a beautiful experience and much more, the bags and shoes are unique, something that people who love quality should purchase.”
‘Morin o’ is a leather design and manufacturing company that produces handbags for male and female, alongside other leather accessories.
Meanwhile, Nigeria Export Promotion Council (NEPC0 report says the export of leather products like bags, shoes, was 63 million dollars in 2014.
Although Nigerian leather is still mainly used in the production of shoes and bags, resulting in thriving local production and exportation to regional West Africa, the country still imports about $500 million worth of leather products annually. (NAN)
