Lagos, Feb.28, 2018 (NAN) A 36-year-old woman, Nnenna Ifenchard, on Wednesday appeared before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court over alleged N 5.9 million fraud.
The accused was arraigned before Chief Magistrate B.O Osunsanmi on a two-count charge of fraud and obtaining under false pretences.
The prosecutor, Mr Benson Emuerhi, told the court that the accused committed the offences from November 2016 to May 2017 at Omole Phase 2, Lagos.
Emuerhi, said that the accused fraudulently obtained N5.9 million from one Mr Lucky Okoh-Oboh under the pretext of helping him to invest the money in Rocket Prime Resources Ltd.
“”The accused absconded with the money to an unknown place.
“When she was arrested by the police, she promised to refund the money with interest in three months, butshe failed to do so,’’ he said.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty.
Osunsanmi granted her bail of N500, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
She said that both sureties should provide evidence of employment and must own landed property.
The magistrate ordered that one of the sureties must be a relation of the accused and reside within the court’s jurisdiction.
She adjourned the case until June 14 for definite hearing. (NAN)
