Compromise

Abuja, Feb. 13, 2017 (NAN) The leadership of the Young Democratic Party (YDP) has assured the party members that it will not compromise its manifesto on providing good governance and development of the country.

Mrs Georgina Dakpokpo, the National Chairman of the party, made the promise in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja after the party’s convention.

She noted that although the party was aware of some members’ concerns that bigwigs or the moneybags from older political parties might infiltrate the YDP’s ideology, the party’s leadership would never compromise its ideology.

“YDP is a political party for the farmers, the labourers, the market women, students, pensioners, contractors, the small businessmen and women, among others.

“We need you to give hope a chance for our dear country; we feel the pains of the struggle we all go through and we want to change the narratives,’’ Dakpokpo said.

According to her, YDP has members that cut across the country and the aim of the members is to discourage corruption, eschew greed and embrace creative and positive thinking.

“We want to bridge a gap and make our public school competitive and one of the best; accountability is key in our relationship as party members.

“In 2019, we will define our democracy and display responsibility first to our citizens and then to the rest of the world,’’ she said.

Dakpokpo said the party members had conversed heartily for a long time about how to move the country forward to prosperity.

“We have, therefore, expressed our ultimate desire to appreciate the strength in our diversity and the ultimate clarion call to redirect our mindsets about the fact that hard work can be rewarding,’’ Dakpokpo said.

According to her, the party will ensure the provision of one of the best infrastructure, healthcare delivery services, security and sustainable economy, among others.(NAN)
