Woman, 34, faces N800,000 theft charge

Lagos, May 17, 2018 (NAN) A 34- year-old woman, Gbemisola Orunmoluyi, who allegedly stole N800,000 belonging to her employer, was on Thursday charged at an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court.
The accused, who resides at 4, Ammat Lane, Agege, Lagos, is being tried for stealing.
The Prosecutor, Sgt. Raphael Donny, told the court that the offence was committed between March 14 and April 12, at 58, Town Planning Way, Ilupeju, Lagos.
Donny said that the accused was the Personal Assistant to the Managing Director of Artee Spar Nigeria Limited.
He said that the accused was given N800, 000 by her employer, Artee Spar Nigeria Limited, to process Special Education Parent Advisory Council (SEPAC) documents for some of its staff.
“The accused failed to process the documents and later told her employer that she could not find the money where she kept it.
“The case was reported at the police station and the accused was arrested,” he said.
Donny said the offence contravened Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Adeola Adedayo, granted bail to the accused in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.
Adedayo adjourned the case until May 28, for mention. (NAN)
