Yola, Feb. 7, 2018 (NAN) The Victims Support Fund (VSF) has presented tents, desks and other educational materials to an NGO, Education Must Continue Initiative (EMCI).

EMCI focuses on the education of about 2,000 children displaced by insurgency in Adamawa and Borno states.

Presenting the materials at a ceremony in Sangere near Yola on Wednesday, the Executive Director of the fund, Dr Sunday Ochoche, said that the total value of support to the NGO so far was over N120 million.

Ochoche lauded the NGO for its performance in educating children, adding that the fund was committed to working with such credible NGOs in helping the victims of insurgency.

He said that the organisation was provided with 24 tents to serve as classrooms for its schools in Adamawa and Borno alongside desks, textbooks, bags and other learning materials.

The VSF boss said the pupils would soon be provided with uniforms while the orphans among them would be considered for further support under the foster care Programme of VSF.

Ochoche, while lauding volunteer teachers in the school, said that the fund would consider supporting them with a token allowance to boost their morale.

Earlier, the Chairman of EMCI Board of Trustees, Mr Paul Gadzama, and the founder of the school, Mrs Palmata Edward, thanked VSF for its sustained support to the initiative.

They requested for more VSF support and urged other organisations to emulate it.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the VSF director also visited Michika local government area, where he handed over six blocks of classrooms reconstructed by the fund. ( NAN)
