Use dialogue to settle disputes, Cleric urges Nigerians

Kaduna, Sept. 21, 2016 (NAN)The Interfaith Mediation Centre Kaduna, on Wednesday urged Nigerians to explore dialogue as the most viable option in settling disputes among them.

Rev. Bitrus Dangiwa, Director of the centre, made the appeal while addressing newsmen in Kaduna on the occasion of the International Day of Peace.

He said that Nigerians must avoid any form of fighting and killings, stressing that the solution to any conflict lies in dialogue.

Dangiwa said that the centre would continue to promote peaceful coexistence among Nigerians to engender development in the country.

“Ours is to promote peaceful co-existence to see that every Nigerian is leaving in peace.

“That is why interfaith is organising workshops, media programmes with journalist so as to sensitize Nigerians on the importance of peace.“

In his comment, the Director of Intervention Interfaith, Imam Sani Isah, described peace as the bedrock of development.

He also urged Nigerians to promote peace in all their dealings, so as to enhance growth and stability in the country.

“As we struggle on how to look for food, education and others lawful ways to sustain life, we must also struggle for peace. Addressing peace is a collective responsibility.”

He stressed that good governance was also very vital in building peace, as such leaders must lead by example and respect citizens’ rights and privileges.(NAN)
