Lagos, Jan. 25, 2017 (NAN) Three men, who allegedly stole N2.8million worth of goods from their employer, were on Wednesday released on bail in the sum of N250, 000 each on the orders of an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court.

The accused: Adedayo Kunle, 46, Busuyi Adedayo, 40, and Rilwan Abiodun, 25, are all residents of No. 22, Papa Asese, Abekoko, Ibafo, Ogun State.

They are standing trial on a two-count-charge of conspiracy and stealing to which they pleaded not guilty.

The Prosecutor, Ishaku Babaji, had earlier told the court that the accused diverted and stole bags of Dangote wheat valued at N1.4 million they were transporting to Ilorin, Kwara from Lagos.

Babaji said the accused stole the goods belonging to the complainant, Mr Olaware Ajilore, sometime in October 2016 at Acme Road, Ogba, Lagos.

“The accused – Kunle and Adedayo, both truck drivers, and Abiodun, a panel beater, were asked to deliver bags of wheat to Dangote company warehouse in Ilorin, Kwara State from Lagos by the complainant, their employer.

“They, however, sold the goods worth N1.4 million and also stole and sold 16 truck tyres valued at N1.4 million and converted the proceeds to personal use.

“The case was reported to the police and the accused were immediately arrested,” he said.

The offence, according to the prosecutor, contravened Section 285 and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
