Butcher
Lagos, Feb. 9, 2017 (NAN) A 19-year-old butcher, Olawumi Michael, who pleaded guilty to stealing two phones worth N25,000 at an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court, is to cool his heels in prison pending sentence.
Michael, who lives at Abattoir area of Agege, a Lagos suburb, had admitted before Magistrate G.O. Anifowoshe that he broke into a house at Iju-Ishaga, Lagos, and made away with the phones.
Following his guilty plea, the court ordered the butcher’s remand at the Kirikiri Prisons till Feb. 20 for facts and sentence.
Earlier, Prosecutor Eruada Victor told the court that the accused committed the offence on Jan. 30 on Old Akute Road, Iju-Ishaga, a suburb of Lagos.
He said the complainant, Mr Caius Okpala, caught the accused red-handed and reported the theft at the police station which led to his arrest.
The offence contravened Section 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011 which carries a penalty of three years imprisonment. (NAN)
