Yenagoa, Aug. 24, 2018 (NAN) Some experts in education in Bayelsa have tasked parents, teachers and guardians on proper counseling of students on career choices while bringing them up.
The experts gave the advice on Friday in Yenagoa, during the launch of a book entitled “Career Guidance and Counselling,” written by Mr Authority Benson, a young graduate.
Mr Hamilton Ekeke, the reviewer of the book, said that many people were failing in their various endeavours in life due to lack of proper counseling while growing up.
Ekeke, Director, Bayelsa Civil Service Commission, said that it was important for students or children to be aware and properly educated about whatever choice of career they would want to pursue.
“I have read this book and I must say that it’s very good not only for students in secondary schools but scholars, especially teachers and parents,’’ he said.
Mr Jonathan Obuebite, the state Commissioner for Education, commended the author and pledged to introduce the book to all secondary schools in the state.
Obuebite, represented by Mr Ayefaghe Bienimighe, Director of Inspection, Ministry of Education, said the book was good for students, teachers, parents and would help in children up-bringing.
“The state government will ensure that the book is used in both public and private secondary schools in the state,” he said.
The author of the book, said the aim of writing the book was to bridge the gap students’ career choice making and redirect their minds on the matter.
According to Benson, the book has exploited that knowledge gap on career choice of a certain student.
“I believe it will help the young ones, teachers, parents and every scholar.
“On writing books, I must urge people not to see it as so difficult but to embrace it because writing can make a man like any other job or business,” he said. (NAN)
