Lawmaker counsels youths against criminal activities

Nasarawa (Nasarawa State), Aug. 24, 2018 (NAN) Mr Murtala Sodangi, a member of Nasarawa State House of Assembly, has warned youths against criminal activities in their own interest and for overall development of the country.

Sodangi (APC Nasarawa Central) gave the advice when he spoke with newsmen in Nasarawa, Nasarawa Local Government area, on Friday.

He advised youths to engage in meaningful activities for societal development, adding that criminal acts would affect the societal development negatively.

The lawmaker said that engaging in criminal activities and other social vices had affected education and lives of many Nigerian youths and the society negatively, hence the need for youths to shun social vices in the interest of peace and national development.

“I want to use this opportunity to call on those youths who engage in criminal activities such as armed robbery, kidnapping, among others to stop the act as they are barbaric and must be condemned  by all.

“Youths should engage or find positive ways to do something in order to earn a living, become self-reliant and  contribute their quota to national development,” he said.

According to him, youths are the engine room, pillar, foundation, backbone, agent of change and vanguard of peace of any nation, hence the need for them to invest more in themselves by acquiring knowledge and skills as well as engaging in meaningful ventures.

Sodangi assured his constituents of robust and quality representation at the assembly, while soliciting for support from all to enable him succeed in  initiating good policies and programmes toward impacting positively on their lives.

“My constituents can testify of what I have done toward bettering their lives in terms of women, youths empowerment programmes, infrastructure development, among others.

“That is why my constituents are supporting my re-election bid  in order to for them to continue to enjoy more dividend of democracy,” he said.

The lawmaker called for support of President Muhammadu Buhari and Gov. Tanko Al-Makura administration to enable them succeed.

“Let continue to support President Muhammadu Buhari and Gov.Tanko Al-Makura and other leaders at all levels to enable them succeed in the tasks ahead of them.” (NAN)
