Sexual assault: Court remands man after guilt-plea

Lagos, Feb. 3, 2017(NAN) An Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court on Friday ordered the remand of one Sunday Sylvester, 36, in Kirikiri Prison after pleading guilty to sexually assaulting his neighbour’s daughter.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Davies Abegunde adjourned hearing till Feb. 22.
The accused who resides at Lone Street, Oworonshoki, a suburb of Lagos, is standing trial for sexually assaulting a minor.
The prosecutor, Sgt. Raphael Donny, told the court that the accused committed the offence on Jan. 13 at his residence.
Donny said that the accused and the victim, a 6-year-old girl, resided in the same compound.
“The accused called the victim inside his room with the pretence of sending her on an errand.
“The accused shut the door at her and fingered her private part until the girl started bleeding,” he said.
The offence contravened Section 135 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.(NAN)
