Abuja, Jan. 11, 2017 (NAN) A Gudu Upper Area Court in Abuja on Wednesday sentenced a 25-year-old photographer, Adepoju Kayode, to three weeks in prison for dangerous driving.
Kayode, of Kwali Village, Abuja had pleaded guilty and was convicted on a three-count charge of non-registration, dangerous driving and failure to stop when ordered to stop by a police officer.
The judge, Mr Umar Kagarko, however, granted the convict an option of N6, 000 fine.
The prosecutor, Mr Joshua Ayanna, told the court that the Area Commander, Metro, Abuja “accosted” the convict along Ahmadu Bello Way by the CBN Junction, Garki, Abuja on Jan. 9.
Ayanna said that the convict, on the same date, drove a Mazda vehicle with registration no. CQ 342 KTU, dangerously for which he was arrested.
The prosecutor said that the offence was contrary to Sections 29, 28 and 17 of the Road Traffic Act. (NAN)
