Perfume

Lagos, Jan. 29, 2018 (NAN) A 31-year-old man, David Okon, who broke into a Church bookshop and stole a bottle of perfume and phone valued at N13,000 is to spend the next 30 days in Kirikiri prison.
Magistrate A. A. Adesanya, presiding over Ojo Magistrates’ Court, ruled on Monday after the convict pleaded guilty to the two-count charge of breaking, entry and theft.
Adesanya ruled that “You are hereby sentenced to 30 days in Kirikiri prison with hard labour.’’
Earlier, the Prosecutor, Insp. Uche Simeon, had told the court that the accused committed the offences on Jan. 7 at 9.00 p.m. at Christ Embassy Church, Festac Town, Lagos.
Simeon said that Okon broke into the church bookshop and stole a bottle of Smart perfume and a phone valued at N13,000, which belonged to the shopkeeper, Innocent Okafor.
He said that the convict was caught while trying to escape with the loot by a guard.
The offences contravened Sections 287 and 309 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Section 287 stipulates three years imprisonment, while section 309 prescribes seven years imprisonment for anyone found guilty. (NAN)
