Painter in court for allegedly assaulting lady

Abuja, Jan. 29, 2018 (NAN) The Police on Monday arraigned one Nwakama Kingsley, in a Karmo Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, for allegedly assaulting a lady.

The defendant, who resides at Karmo last gate, is standing trial on a two-count charge of criminal force/assault and mischief.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges levelled against him.

The prosecutor, Zannah Dalhatu, told the court that one Odoh Chiamaka, of Chief’s Palace, Karmo, reported the matter at the Karmo Police Station, on Jan. 22.

The complainant alleged that the defendant on that same date met her at Ezumezu in Karmo, collected her bag containing her Infinix phone valued at N35, 000.

He broke the phone, while the complainant insisted he must replace it, and in the process he assaulted her and beat her up.

Dalhatu said that the offences contravened Sections 262 and 326 of the Penal Code.

The judge, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N30, 000 with one surety in like sum and adjourned the case until Feb. 27, for hearing. (NAN)
