Abuja, Feb. 21, 2017 (NAN) The Nigerian Union of Pensioners (NUP) will on Monday inaugurate the Abuja Chapter Contributory Pension Retirees in collaboration with the Association of Contributory Pension Retirees, an official said on Tuesday.
Bunmi Ogunkolade, who is the union’s General Secretary, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja that the inauguration would enhance the fight for pensioners’ right.
He said the ceremony would take place at the Labour House in Abuja, and would help in forming a formidable and united entity to fight for pensioners’ right.
“The NUP expects all Federal Civil/Public Service and private sector retirees under the contributory pension scheme to attend the ceremony which will also give all of us an opportunity to hold a Congress,’’ Ogunkolade said.
The NUP general secretary said the congress would hold at the same Labour House venue in Abuja.
“The congress will help to address the non-payment of all retirement benefits and other observed lapses in managing the contributory pension scheme,’’ he said.(NAN)
