Abuja, May 25, 2018 (NAN) The Initiative for Excellent and Better Society in Africa (IEBSA), an NGO, has solicited the support of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) for the coverage of its activities.
Mr Rauf Sarafadeen, the President of IEBSA, made the call in Abuja on Friday during a courtesy visit to the Managing Director of NAN, Mr Bayo Onanuga.
He said that the call was to enhance the realisation of the goals and objectives of the NGO targeted at providing a better society for Nigerians.
The IEBSA’s president canvassed the approval of a yearly programme to be organised by the NGO in partnership with NAN by the management.
‘‘We also request you to grant us approval or recommendation letter so as to enable us to associate with other stakeholders,” he said.
According to him, the NGO has lined up several events that will need the involvement of the agency to ensure that the information is disseminated to Nigerians.
He said the NGO had recorded many successes since its inception in 2011, adding that it had organised several programmes aimed at improving the well-being of the populace.
Sarafadeen said the ‘‘health is wealth’’ programme in Nasarawa, HIV/AIDS prevention and control programme in Zuba and other programme organised in partnership with government agencies were activities of the NGO to assist the people.
In his remark, Malam Yusuf Zango, the Editor-in-Chief of NAN, who received the delegation on behalf of the NAN’s Managing Director, commended the group for the visit.
Zango pledged the commitment of NAN to support the activities of the organisation, adding that its objectives and activities were laudable.
According to him, looking at you and your initiatives as young people, we have the conviction that there is a better tomorrow for this country because your activities are not self centered.
He urged members of the organisation to remain focused and committed to activities aimed at touching the lives of the less privileged in the society. (NAN)
