Tricycle

Lagos, March 1, 2017 (NAN) A 24-year-old tricycle mechanic, Sodiq Fagbohun, was on Wednesday
charged with stealing a tricycle valued at N370,000 at an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.
Fagbohun, a resident of Ogunjebe Street, Agege, a Lagos suburb, is being tried for stealing.
According to the prosecutor, Insp. Clement Okuoimose, the accused committed the offence on Feb. 19
at 1. 00 a.m. at Ogunjebe Street, Agege.
He alleged that the accused stole he tricycle valued at N370, 000 property of the complainant, Daniel Egbe, from where it was parked.
“He was driving the tricycle from the street when he was intercepted by security guards on night duty.
“The security guards, who were on patrol, had sighted the accused inside the vehicle.
“When they stopped the accused, he abandoned the vehicle and took to his heels.
“The guards gave him a hot chased and arrested him and the vehicle was also recovered,’’ he said.
The offence contravened Section 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the accused may be jailed for three years if convicted
according to the section.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty and was granted bail in the sum of N30, 000 with two sureties
in like sum.
The Magistrate, Mrs Y.O. Ekogbule, adjourned the case to March 13 for mention. (NAN)
