Lagos, Jan. 18, 2017 (NAN) The Oodua Maritime Forum (OMF) on Wednesday advised its members to elect members of the group capable of delivering the forum’s agenda in the forthcoming ANLCA elections.
The Convener of the meeting, Prince Segun Adefioye, said that the mission and vision of the group needed to be upheld and should not be ignored.
He said that it would not be in the interest of the forum for its members to continue to be marginalised in national bodies.
Adefioye said that the objectives of the forum when it was formed in 1997 included catering for the welfare of sons and daughters of Oodua in the maritime sector.
“The forum is not for freight forwarders alone, rather it is an all-encompassing one for workers in the maritime sector of Oodua extraction, he said.
Adefioye advised members to always seek opinions of elders of the forum before taking actions on issues, especially on elections into national bodies.
Adefioye also urged them to repeat the bloc votes that enabled the forum to achieve the feat it recorded in the last ANLCA national elections in Warri. (NAN)
