Akure,Jan.18,2017 (NAN) A 22-year-old commercial motorcyclist, Abiodun Aforiogun, charged with conspiracy, house breaking and stealing was on Wednesday remanded in Olokuta Prison by an Akure Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing goods valued at N84,500.
Chief Magistrate Bob-Manuel Victoria ordered the remand of the accused person till Feb.21, for bail consideration.
The chief magistrate admitted that the case was a bailable offence.
“But for the reasons giving by the prosecutor, the accused person shall be remanded in Olokuta prison till the next adjournment date when the issue of bail consideration will be considered,’’ Bob-Manuel said.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp. Martins Olowofeso, had said that the accused broke into the house of the Mrs Ajayi Moses and stole one plasma television set and half-a-bag of raw rice.
Olowofeso said that other items stolen include: one school- water bottle for children and one Tiger generator, all valued at N84,500.
Olowofeso said that the accused and one accomplice, still at large, committed the offences on Jan. 15, at No 5, Kajola St., off Oda road in Akure.
He said that the offences contravened Sections 509, 413(1) and 412(1) of the Criminal Code Cap. 37, Vol.1, Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the four charges.
The counsel to the accused person, Mr Abraham Yakubu, plea was not taken by the court.
The court adjourned the case to Feb. 21 for bail consideration. (NAN)
