Man docked over alleged reckless driving

Mararaba (Nasarawa State), Aug. 14, 2018 (NAN) A 24-year-old man, Simon Ejeh, has appeared before a Mararaba Upper Area Court, Nasarawa State, for allegedly knocking down a pedestrian.

Ejeh, who resides at Aso Pada, Mararaba, is facing a count charge, bordering on reckless driving, offence he denied committing.
The defendant, according to the prosecutor, Hamen Donad, committed the offence on June 22, at about 6 p.m. at Sharp Corner, Mararaba, Nasarawa State.
“The defendant, while dangerously driving an unregistered Bajaj motorcycle in Aso Pada, towards Sharp Corner knocked down a pedestrian, one Oby Nwodo who was standing by her shop.
“As a result of the accident, the pedestrian sustained fracture on her left leg and  was rushed to where he is receiving treatment,” Donald said.
The offence contravened Section 18 of Road Traffic Act.
The judge, Ibrahim Shekaru, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50, 000, with a surety in like sum and adjourned the case until Aug. 28 for hearing. (NAN)
