Man docked over alleged motorcycle theft

Abuja, July 27, 2017 (NAN) A 21-year-old man, Chinedu Ekwe, was on Thursday docked in a Kado Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, for allegedly stealing a motorcycle.

The defendant, who is a resident of Karmo village Abuja, is facing a charge of stealing.

The prosecutor, Judith Obatomi, told the court that one Udoji Obinna of Gwarimpa Ultra Modern Market, Abuja, reported the matter at the Life Camp Police Station, Abuja, on July 21.

Obatomi said that the defendant who was employed as a delivery man, was entrusted with a Jincheng motorcycle to facilitate his movement.

He alleged that the accused sold the motorcycle and claimed it was snatched from him.

Obatomi said that the offence contravened Section 287 of the Penal Code.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The judge, Alhaji Ahmed Ado, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50,000 and one surety in like sum.

He adjourned the case until Sept. 11, for further hearing. (NAN)
