Arraignment

Minna, Feb. 16, 2018 (NAN) A 30-year-old man, Danlami Abdullahi, was on Friday arraigned at a Minna Magistrates’ Court over alleged theft of telephone handsets.
Abdullahi of no fixed address is standing trial on a three-count charge of criminal conspiracy, criminal trespass and theft.
The Police Prosecutor, Insp. Muazu Abdullahi, told the court that the defeendant conspired with one person still at large to trespass into the residence of one Safiya Ndako and stole three telephone handsets.
He said that the incident occurred at midnight of Jan. 31, 2018 and that the telephones (two Techno and one Itel handsets) were valued at N60, 000.
According to the prosecutor, Ndako reported the matter at the State Criminal Investigation Department on Jan. 31.
He said that during police investigation, one of the cell phone was recovered from the accused.
Abdullahi told the court that the offences contravened Sections 97, 348 and 288 of the Penal Code.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Without an application for bail, the Magistrate, Mrs Amina Musa, ordered that the defendant should be remanded in prison until next adjourned date.
She adjourned the case to Feb. 27 for further mention. (NAN)
