Lagos, Jan. 11, 2017 (NAN) The police on Wednesday arraigned a 29-year-old man, Adeyemi Majekodunmi, in an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State charged with
alleged illegal possession of single barrel locally made gun and three live cartridges.
Majekodunmi, an unemployed man who resides at Meiran, a suburb of Lagos, is being tried for unlawful custody of ammunition.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Simeon Inuoha, told the court that the defendant was arrested
on Sept. 27, 2016 at Ile-Iwe Bus Stop, Meiran, Lagos.
Inuoha said the police stopped the defendant at a checkpoint and searched his car booth.
He added that “it was inside the car booth that the locally made single barrel gun with three cartridges were found.
“The defendant could not explain how he came about them and he was apprehended.”
He said the offence contravened Section 328(d) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty and the Chief Magistrate, Mrs B.O. Osunsanmi, granted him bail in the sum of N300,000 with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case until March 16 for mention. (NAN)
