Driver docked over alleged theft of Lexus Jeep

Lagos, Jan. 11, 2017 (NAN) For allegedly stealing a Lexus Jeep valued at N3 million, 30-year-old Adegoke Afeez, on Wednesday appeared before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court.

The accused, a driver, who resides at 6, Kogberegbe St., Isolo, a suburb of Lagos, is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing to which he pleaded not guilty.

But the prosecutor, Sgt. Donjor Perezi, insisted that the accused committed the offences on Nov.22 at Okota in Isolo area of Lagos.

Perezi said the accused with another man still at large conspired and took away an unregistered Lexus jeep worth N3 million belonging to the complainant, Mrs Charity Emmanuel, from a warehouse.

“It was the security guard, who saw the accused driving the jeep out of the warehouse that told the complainant.’’

The offences contravened Sections 285 and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

Section 285 provides a three-year jail term for offenders, while Section 409 stipulates two years.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs A.O. Layinka granted the accused bail in the sum of N1 million with two sureties in like sum.

She adjourned the case to Feb. 13 for mention. (NAN)
