Lagos, Jan. 19, 2017 (NAN) An Ikeja Magistrates’ Court on Thursday granted a 25-year-old man, Taofeek Oyerinde, N30,000 bail, after he denied stealing a smart phone.
Oyerinde, who lives at Aboru in Iyana-Ipaja area of Lagos, pleaded not guilty to the charge of stealing brought against him.
The Magistrate, Mrs G.O. Anifowoshe, ordered the accused to provide two sureties who must show evidence of two years’ tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp. Eruada Victor, told the court that Oyerinde committed the offences at Royal Club, Oba Akran, Ikeja, on Jan. 15.
Victor said that the accused snatched and went away with one Tejiri Nejhenejhen’s bag containing her smart-phone and ATM card, valued at N32,000.
He said the accused was apprehended by some guys at the club, who reported the matter to the police.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened Section 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The case was adjourned to Feb. 6, for mention. (NAN)
