Lagos, Feb. 13, 2017 (NAN) A 24-year-old lotto agent, Segun Ojo, who allegedly bolted with his employer’s N330,000 was on Monday granted N150,000 bail.
An Ikeja Magistrates’ Court in Lagos also asked Ojo to produce two sureties as part of the bail conditions.
He said the sureties must show evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
The accused, who resides in Abule-Egba area of Lagos State, is facing a charge of stealing.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Clement Okuoimose, told the court that the accused committed the offences in November 2016 at No. 5, Ilupeju St., Oke-Odo, Abule-Egba, Lagos.
He said that the accused stole the N330,000 which belonged to Mrs Sadiat Fatoye.
Okuoimose said the complainant gave the accused her ‘Premier Lotto terminal box’ to operate.
“The accused used the lotto box to play the game for some customers, collected the N330. 000 and absconded with the money.
“All efforts made by the complainant to trace the accused proved unsuccessful until he was arrested this February,” he said.
The offence contravened Section 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the accused may be jailed for three years if found guilty according to the provisions of Section 285.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
