Lawmaker seeks boundary demarcation between Nasarawa, Benue to curb clashes

Keana ( Nasarawa State) June 27, 2024 ( NAN) Mr Mohammed Omadefu, a member of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, has urged the state government to demarcate the boundaries between Keana and Guma Local Governments in Nasarawa State and Benue, respectively.
Omadeffu, who represents Keana Constituency at the assembly, said this was to curb recurring communal clashes between the communities in the two states..
Omadefu, who is the Chairman, House Committee on Environment stated this on Thursday in Keana during the three-day prayers of late Musa Yusuf, a graduate of Nasarawa State University Keffi, who was killed recently in his farm in Keana LGA.
The lawmaker urged the security agencies to arrest the killers of farmers in his constituency.
The arrest, he said, would serve as a deterrent to others as well as promote peace in the area.
The lawmaker said that he would do everything humanly possible in collaboration with security agencies to ensure that the perpetrators of the devilish act are brought to book.
” The state government has deployed security personnel to Keana to forestall and maintain peace and order
” We will ensure that the perpetrators of these brutal killings are brought to book and justice is done to serve as deterrent to others” he said
Omadefu expressed sadness over the brutal killing of people in his constituency.
” I am here to condole and attend the prayers of late Musa, who was brutal killed in his farm
” I urge the family to take heart, May God forgive Musa of his shortcomings and may the soul of Musa rest in peace” he said.
Omadefu also prayed to God to grant the deceased Aljanatu Fidausi.
The lawmaker condemned the acts and assured of his commitment to ensure that Keana LGA remained peaceful and safe.
” By the special grace of God, evil doers in this constituency will not go free.
“The law will catch up with them, how will one kill his fellow human beings like an animal, this is inhuman and heartless,” he said.
Omadefu urged the people of the area to go about their farming and other activities, saying that security agencies would deal with all the trouble makers in the area.
The lawmaker further urged the people of his constituency to continue to be law abiding, respect constituted authorities, live in peace and unity irrespective of their affiliations.
Responding, Mr Yusuf Agede, the father of the deceased appreciated Omadefu and his entourage for identifying with them at their trial moment.(NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
