Kebbi SEMA expresses concern over frequent fire incidents

Brinin Kebbi, Feb17,2017(NAN) Kebbi State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) has expressed concern over frequent fire outbreaks in the state.
Chairman of the Agency, Alhaji Sani Dododo said the body would engage the State Fire Serice Department and Kaduna Electricy Distribution Company (KEDCO) to mount enlightenment campain to reduce the incidents.
Dododo said while sympathizing with a Birnin Kebbi resident, Alhaji Umaru Jega, whose house was gutted by fire on Friday, that the problem of elctricity surge was also contributing to the probem and urged KEDCO to find a solution.
He said issues of power surge and substandard cables must be addressed in order to curtail the frequent fire disasters in the state.
The SEMA chairman advised residents to always switch off electric appliances, desist from overloading cables and misuse of fire.
Meanwhile, the female hostel section of Abdullahi Fodio Islamic Center had been gutted by fire.
An eye witness, Aisha Salah, a matron at the center said some materials were destroyed but no life was lost.
Salah commended the efforts of the men of state fire services for containing the fire.(NAN)
