Feeding
Kano, March 7, 2017 (NAN) A Kano-based industrialist, Alhaji Shittu Sani-Marshal has described the school feeding programme embraced by Kano and Jigawa state governments as a major catalyst in providing employment opportunities for youths and women.
He made the remark in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kano on Tuesday.
He said the introduction of the programme would further encourage parents and guardians to enroll their children and wards in school.
According to him, both Gov. Abdullahi Ganduje and his Jigawa counterpart, Alhaji Badaru Abubakar have proven themselves as leading pace-setters in embracing the programme as conceived by the Federal Government.
“The scheme will provide job opportunities to the teeming number of youths that are in need of employment and check the rate of high profile crimes among the youth.
Sani-Marshal, who is a Director in the Kaura Biscuits and Macaroni Production Company, said the programme had positively impacted on the lives of the people in the southern part of the country.
“The programme has provided the people in the southern part of the country the opportunity to boost their economies,” he said.
He said the introduction of the scheme would empower women to secure job, most especially now that the two states had placed high premium on youths and women empowerment.
He, therefore, called on other northern states governor to emulate the good example of the two states for the development of education in the country. (NAN)
