Competition

Dutse, Dec. 15, 2016 (NAN) The Jigawa Government said it had earmarked N14 million for the conduct of the 31st Qur’anic Recitation Competition in the state.
The Executive Secretary, Islamic Education Bureau, Dr Yakubu Abbas, disclosed this at the opening ceremony of the competition on Thursday in Dutse.
Abbas said that the exercise was organised by the Jigawa State Ministry of Education.
He explained that 324 students were currently participating in the competition.
The executive secretary added that 12 students were drawn from each of the 27 local government areas of the state.
According to him, the participants were selected after emerging winners at various categories in similar competition organised at the local government level.
Abbas noted that the participants, comprising of male and females,
would compete in six different categories.
He, therefore, urged the participants to put in their best, as prizes would be given to winners.
The executive secretary added that the winners would also represent the state at the National Qur’anic Recitation Competition in 2017.
