Jigawa Council procures N1.5m worth of spare parts to resuscitate broken-down hand pumps

Dutse, Feb. 24, 2017 (NAN) Buji Local Government Council of Jigawa says it had procured spare parts worth N1.5 million to repair damaged and broken hand pumps in the area.

The Council’s Information Officer, Alhaji Ali Safiyanu, disclosed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Dutse.

Safiyanu said that the gesture was aimed at improving water supply in the area.

He added that it was also to enhance access to safe drinking water among rural dwellers.

The therefor urged residents with damaged or broken hand pumps, to report the matter to members of Water Committee in their respective communities.

Sufiyanu called on residents to ensure the protection of water facilities against vandalism.

The spokeperson also told NAN that the council had procured mats worth N1 million for distribution to Mosques in all the 10 wards of the council. (NAN)
