Gov. Al-makura donates N5m, offers jobs to 100 ex-servicemen

Lafia, Jan. 10, 2017 (NAN) Gov. Umaru Al-makura of Nasarawa State on Tuesday donated five million Nara to members of the Nigerian legion in the state to enhance the discharge of their duties.

Al-makura donated the money when he launched this year’s Armed Forces Remembrance Day Emblem appeal fund in Government House, Lafia.

He announced that 100 ex-servicemen would be given automatic employment as security in the various government offices.

He also donated 18-seaters bus, 100 bags of rice and 10 slots of employment for children and widows of the fallen heroes.

The governor, who extolled the role of the Nigerian legion in keeping the nation as one united entity during the civil war, urged Nigerians to continue to shower love on them.

Al-makura also congratulated President Muhammadu Buhari’s efforts in eliminating the dreaded Boko Haram terrorists in the country.

He also hailed Nigerian military for capturing Sambisa forest, urging Nigerians to be vigilante as some residual terrorists would be looking for refuge in other states.

The governor used the occasion to warn all mischief makers whose stalk in trade was to foment crisis to desist or risk facing the full weight of the law .

He, however, directed citizens to be on the alert by monitoring and reporting any stranger in their midst to the law enforcement agencies for proper screening.

He added that security was everybody’s business and any action capable of threatening the peace of the nation should not be compromised.

Responding, the state Chairman, Nigerian Legion, retired Col. David Masaka, thanked the governor for the gesture and assured of the legion would continued to support the state and the country at large.

Masaka extolled Buhari’s efforts in decimating  Boko Haram terrorists in the country.

He, therefore, appealed to Nigerians to give the president their maximum cooperation in order to totally get rid of the terrorists and other criminal activities in the country. (NAN)
