Lagos, March 20, 2018 (NAN) A 38-year-old electrician, Afeez Folorunsho, on Tuesday appeared in an Ebute Meta Magistrates’ Court over alleged illegal connection of cable to a neighbour’s generator, diverting the energy and distributing it to other neighbours.

Folorunsho is facing a charge of breach of peace.

He, however, denied the charge.

The Police Prosecutor, ASP Clara Olagbayi, had told the court that the accused committed the offences on March 19 at 1.40 p.m. at No. 70, Market St., Ebute Meta.

Olagbayi told the court that the accused connected a wire to a Perkins 1300 generator belonging to the complainant, Azubuike Ezenwabachili, and distributed electricity to neighbours in the compound.

She also said the connection and distribution resulted in the damage of the generator, adding that the complainant spent N1 million to repair it.

The offence contravened Section 187 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The Magistrate, Mrs O.A. Olagbende, admitted the accused to a bail of N500,000 with two responsible sureties in like sum.

Olagbende said the sureties must provide evidence of tax payment to the state government and adjourned the case until April 16 for mention. (NAN)
