Lagos, March 20, 2018 (NAN) A 36-year-old businessman, Sunday Eze, on Tuesday appeared before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly obtaining materials for nylon production valued at N111,960 under false pretences.
Eze, who resides at No. 4, Amos St., General Bus Stop, Ahmadiyya, Abule-Egba, a suburb of Lagos, is being tried for obtaining under false pretences and fraud.
The Prosecutor, Police Insp. Raji Akeem told the court that the accused committed the offences sometime in September 2015 at Meiran area near Abule-Egba.
Akeem said the accused collected some materials for nylon production from the complainant, Mr Joseph Unaka, on the pretext of returning his money after the nylon had been sold.
“The accused bolted and all efforts to locate him failed. The accused was later seen at a bus stop somewhere in Abule Egba by the complainant.
“He was apprehended with the help of passersby and was taken to the police station,” he said.
The offences contravened Sections 314 and 323 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty and was granted bail in the sum of N111,960 with two sureties in like sum.
Chief Magistrate T. O. Shomade, who gave the ruling, adjourned the case until April 9 for mention. (NAN)
