Driver docked over alleged theft of employer’s N200, 000 property

Lagos, Sept. 7, 2017 (NAN ) A 33-year-old driver working for 7Up Bottling Company, Adeniyi Segun, who allegedly stole his employer’s 33 creates of empty bottles, was on Thursday charged before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court, Lagos.

Segun, who resides at 7up Estate, Mowe, Ogun, is facing a charge of stealing.

tThe accused committed the offence on Aug. 18 at 7up Bottling Company, Alausa, Ikeja, the Prosecutor, Insp. Victor Eruada, told the court.

He said the accused stole the empty creates after he had delivered some 7Up products to some customers at Mowe-Ibafo, Ogun.

Eruade alleged that the accused also stole his employer’s truck battery and two tyre rims.

“After the accused had delivered the goods, he stole empty crates valued at N33, 000; he also stole a battery valued at N33,000 and two rims valued at N140, 000,’’ he said.

The offence contravened Sections 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the section stipulates a three-year jail term for offenders.

The accused pleaded not guilty.

The Magistrate, Mrs G. O. Anifowoshe, granted the driver bail in the sum of N100, 000 with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case until Sept.21 for mention. (NAN)
