Remand

Lagos, Sept. 7, 2017 (NAN) A 30-year-old applicant, Shina Ojo, was on Thursday remanded in Kirikiri Prisons by an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court after he pleaded guilty to snatching a cell phone valued at N40,000.
The magistrate, Mrs O.I Raji, ordered the remand of the accused who resides at Pen-Cinema, Agege, a suburb of Lagos, until Sept.14, for a review of facts and sentencing.
The prosecutor, Sgt. Yomi Egunjobi, told the court that the accused committed the offence on Aug. 29 at Iju-Ishaga in Agege.
He alleged that the accused snatched a cell phone valued at N40,000, property of one Joseph Otoange.
The prosecutor said, “The complainant was driving inside traffic when the accused approached him and pretended to be in need of help.
“As the complainant was trying to assist the accused, he snatched the complainant’s android phone and ran away.
“The complainant raised an alarm which attracted some of the people around the place.
“They pursued the accused, apprehended him and recovered the phone from him,” he said.
Egunjobi said the offence contravened Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.(Revised).(NAN)
