Ile-Ife (Osun), Feb 8, 2017 (NAN) An Osun Magistrate’s Court, Ile-Ife on Wednesday remanded Adeyemi Ayodele, 34, in prison in Ile-Ife, for allegedly raping an eight-year-old girl.
The accused is facing one count charge of rape.
The Magistrate Olalekan Ijiyode, ordered that the case file in respect of Adeyemi’s matter be duplicated and sent to the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for legal advice.
He adjourned until Feb 14 for mention.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp. Monday Ojiezele, told the court that the accused committed the offence on Jan. 24 about 9.30 a.m, at 98, Moore St., Ile-Ife.
Ojiezele said the accused forced his victim into his room and raped her.
“The girl’s mother had left her at home because she was ill and was taking her medication.
“When she came back from work, some of her neighbours informed her that the accused had carnal knowledge of her daughter and that the matter had been reported to the police,’’ he said.
The offence contravened Section 226 (1) and 359 of the Criminal Law of Osun State, 2002. (NAN)
