Farming
By Awayi Kuje
Keffi (Nasarawa State), April 26, 2017 (NAN) Mr Moses Malle, the Administrator of Akun Development Area in Nasarawa State, has called on the residents to go back to farming to boost efforts to attain food security.
Malle made the call in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Keffi.
He said that for the country to achieve food sufficiency, its citizens must return to farming because the era of depending on the government for white-collar jobs and other basic needs had gone.
He stressed that farming would not only reduce the country’s overdependence on petroleum resources but would also reduce poverty, unemployment, youth restiveness and other social vices in the country.
Malle advised the youth to shun idleness and embrace farming or acquire skills so as to enable them to become self-reliant and contribute their quota to national development in a pragmatic way.
He commended President Muhammadu Buhari and Gov. Tanko Almakura of Nasarawa State for their nation-building efforts, urging them not to relent in their efforts.
Malle urged Nigerians to continue to pray for the country, just as the Buhari-administration was striving to salvage the nation’s economy from recession.
He also urged the people to respect the constituted authorities, while promoting peace and peaceful coexistence in the country, irrespective of factors such as ethnic, religious and political affiliations. (NAN)
