Lagos, March 22, 2017 (NAN) A 49-year-old company driver, Segun Oduyebo, on Wednesday appeared before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court for allegedly damaging the injector of the articulated vehicle he was driving valued at N1.5 million.
The accused, who resides at No. 6, Anifowoshe St., Agbado in Ogun, was arraigned on a two-count charge bordering on willful and unlawful damage.
He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
But Police prosecutor Joseph Ajebe insisted that the accused committed the offences on Oct. 4, 2016 at about 2.00 p.m. at No. 11/12, Cryslad Avenue, Sakamori Compound, Ogba in Agege, Lagos.
Ajebe said the accused damaged the injector of a trailer marked LSD 995 XL valued at N1.5 million, property of Cryslad Nigeria Ltd located at Sakamori, Ogba.
He alleged that the accused was asked to deliver some goods in Yola, Adamawa capital and he sold the diesel he was given for the trip and bought an adulterated diesel which damaged the injector.
The offences contravened Section 348 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2011.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the section stipulates two years imprisonment for offenders.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Alexander Komolafe, granted bail to the accused in the sum of N500,000 with two responsible sureties in like sum.
The sureties, who must be blood relations of the accused, should be gainfully employed and should show evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State government, he ruled.
The case was adjourned until April 12 for trial. (NAN)
