Abuja, Feb. 27, 2017 (NAN) The Board of Directors, Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC), has approved the acting appointment of Ije Ikoku as its Chief Finance Officer (CFO).

The appointment is sequel to the death of the company’s pioneer, Mr Andrew Atterbury, on Jan. 19.

Ikoku brings over 18 years of leadership experience in the fields of investments and infrastructure finance to AEDC.

The acting CFO had been a founding team member of Copperbelt Electricity Company (CEC) Africa Investments, a multi-lateral infrastructure investment platform.

Ikoku was the immediate past CFO of CEC Africa, according to a statement by AEDC’s Head of Public Relations and Media, Ahmed Shekarau.

“Prior to her appointment in CEC, she was a Senior Investment Officer and infra team leader at the World Bank and International Finance Corporation (IFC), where she spent seven years,’’ Shekarau said.

He said Ikoku was responsible for all facets of deal sourcing, structuring, negotiating, and financing of infrastructure transactions and public private partnerships at IFC.

Shekarau said Ikoku would bring specific expertise in the electricity distribution turnarounds of AEDC, having served as portfolio lead for IFC’s 135 million dollars debt investment in the power of sector Cameroon.

He said she had also worked as a Finance Director at Geometric Power and previously spent her professional career in finance, supporting entrepreneurial ventures in the United States, Ghana, Nigeria, Namibia and South Africa.

Ikoku obtained a B.Sc in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University, and an MBA in Finance and Entrepreneurial Management from the Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania. (NAN)
