Ilorin, Feb. 1, 2017 (NAN) Abdullahi Boje, Captain of Abubakar Bukola Saraki (ABS) FC of Ilorin on Wednesday said the team was working hard to maintain their impressive start to the 2016/2017 Nigeria Professional League.
Boje told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Ilorin that they were not carried away by their number three spot on the competition’s log.
“We are not carried away by our start to the new campaign but we are working very hard to improve on our performances game by game.
“We have many young players with a lot to learn but we keep telling ourselves that we must remain focused.
“All we try to do in training is to better what we did in our previous games.
“Our target first of all is to ensure our stability in the league, we will then pursue other things after,’’ Boje said.
NAN recalls that the Saraki Boys have garnered 10 points from a possible 15 with three wins, one draw and a loss.
Their victories were all at home against Akwa United (3-1), FC IfeanyiUbah (1-0) and Shooting Stars Sport Club of Ibadan (2-0), while their away point came in a 1-1 draw with Niger Tornadoes of Minna in Lokoja on Match Day 3.
The Ilorin-based team which regained promotion to the NPFL suffered their heaviest defeat of the season in a 0-3 loss to Lobi Stars of Makurdi on Match Day 4.
They are scheduled to travel to the Kofarmata Stadium, Kano to lock horns with Kano Pillars on Match Day 6 on Sunday. (NAN)
