Ilorin, Feb. 1, 2017 (NAN) Gov. Abdulfatah Ahmed of Kwara has approved the appointment of Dr Wendy Daeges as the pioneer Rector of the International Vocational, Training and Entrepreneurship College (IVTEC), Ajase-Ipo.
The State Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Alhaji Musa Yeketi, announced this in a statement in Ilorin on Wednesday.
Yeketi said the college was established in line with the state government’s pledge to encourage entrepreneurial activities among the people of the state.
He said that the college would take off before the end of the first quarter of this year.
The commissioner also announced the appointments of Mr Femi Olabisi as the College Registrar; Saadat Iqbal as IT System Manager; Mr Olatunde Fadipe as Instructor and Head of Automotive and Mr Tokunbo Olayinka as Instructor and Head of Welding.
Others are Mr Tajudeen Agboola as Instructor and Head of Masonry & Carpentry; Immanuel Nwafor as Instructor and Head of Electrical and Babatunde Olayinka as Instructor and Head of Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning.
The commissioner stated that the new appointees would resume immediately for a one-week orientation programme.
The new rector, he said, has over 20 years of senior management level experience in higher education across countries such as Saudi Arabia, Nigeria, United States and South Korea.
He added that the rector holds a Bachelor of Science and Master Degrees in Interdisciplinary Studies from Oregon State University and recently obtained her doctorate degree in Transformational Studies from California Institute of Integrated Studies, USA.
Yeketi said that prior to Daeges’ appointment, she had served as the Executive Director of a Vocational College in Saudi Arabia.
IVTEC Registrar designate, Femi Olabisi, had his first and second degrees from the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife.
Until his appointment, he was the Registrar of the College of Education, Ilemona, Kwara State. (NAN)
