Lawmaker urges youth to shun violence, empower selves

Lafia Jan.29, 2017(NAN) Mohammed Ja’afar -Ibrahim, member representing Nasarawa/Toto at the House of Representatives has urged Nigerian youth to shun violence and other antisocial behavior to enable them contribute to the development of the country.

The lawmaker who gave the advice on Sunday in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lafia, said considering the current economic challenges, youth need to develop themselves in every manner possible to become self-reliant.

Ja’afar –Ibrahim, who is the Patron of Youths Assembly of Nigeria (YAN) ,Nasarawa state chapter, said that education was the key to success in life and an escape route from poverty.

According to him, both religious and western education are paramount and therefore urged the youth not to consider any of the two as being not significant.

“Without the contribution of youth, no nation or society could experience meaningful progress because youth are the agents of change and vanguard of peace in any nation.

“Youth are people who have the energy, vigour, enthusiasm and ability to get things done.

“They form the building block of every nation and the development of any nation is a function of the ability and capability of its youth,” he said.

Ja’afar-Ibrahim stressed the importance of respect for constituted authorities, adding that as future leaders, they could not afford to lay foundation for a lawless society.(NAN).
