Gusau, Jan. 25, 2017 (NAN) The Federal University, Gusau, said that it has embarked on infrastructural development in its bid to meet the accreditation requirements of the National Universities Commission (NUC).
Mr Abbas Hadejia, Director of Physical Planning and Works, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) at the permanent site in Gusau on Wednesday.
He said that the structures embarked upon included building of more lecture rooms and laboratories.
He said that as the school was increasing in population yearly, there was need for more buildings to accommodate students and meet up with the basic accreditation requirement as stipulated by the NUC.
Hadejia said the project included two blocks of lecture rooms with 29 rooms in all.
The director told NAN that while the medium rooms would sit 60 people, the large rooms would take 120 students.
“We have constructed two lecture halls, and each of the rooms is big enough to accommodate 250 people, but we need to do some finishing work on them, which will be ready for use in 30 days time,’’
“There are ongoing constructions, which have been stopped, due to delay in budgetary allocation, while some are due to some problems from the contractors, but before the end of this year, everything will be completed,’’ he said.
The Director said that the school road network also needed construction, which he said would be done, immediately arrangements were finalised with NUC. (NAN)
