Lagos, Jan. 25, 2017(NAN) A teenage housekeeper was on Wednesday brought before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, over alleged theft of jewellery worth N5 million belonging to her employer.
The 16-year-old, who lives with her employer at Kolawole Close, Ilupeju, is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.
The prosecutor, Insp. Simeon Inuoha, told the court that the offences were committed on Nov. 20 at the complainant’s residence.
Inuoha said the accused called her accomplice, who is now at large to the house of the complainant (names withheld) and gave out all her jewellery valued at N5 million to her.
“The accused opened her employer’s room and stole her jewellery box and left the house immediately with the accomplice and all efforts to locate her failed.
“The complainant was given useful information about the accused whereabouts and with the intervention of the police, she was apprehended,’’ he said.
The offences contravened Sections 258 and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs B.O. Osunsanmi, granted the accused N300,000 bail with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case to March 13 for mention. (NAN)
