Roundtable
Isaac Aregbesola Abuja, Jan. 19, 2017 (NAN) U.S. Chargé d’Affaires, David Young on Thursday urged religious leaders to serve as catalysts for peace and reconciliation in Nigeria.

Young made the call in Abuja when he hosted a round-table discussion with Nigerian religious leaders to mark Religious Freedom Day.

He emphasised the importance of putting faith into action by “walking the talk.”

Young said the U.S. was one of the most religiously diverse societies in the world.

He explained that the U.S government placed great importance on protecting religious freedom and promoting tolerance and understanding.

The embassy official highlighted how religious freedom relates to tolerance in the U.S.

Young said the fact that a majority of Americans did not share the beliefs of a minority faith did not make those beliefs and practices any less protected in the United States.

The event was attended by representatives of different denominations of Christendom as well as their Muslim counterparts. (NAN)
