Yunusari (Yobe), Jan. 12, 2017 (NAN) The Yobe government has commenced massive rehabilitation of secondary schools across the state to improve the standard of education.
The state governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Gaidam, stated this in Yunusari while inspecting the N420 million rehabilitation work on Government Secondary School Yunusari, on Thursday.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that the state government in December 2016 awarded N1.6 billion contract for the rehabilitation of three secondary schools in Yunusari, Gwoi-kura and Fika areas.
Gaidam said the schools, which were constructed 36 years ago, suffered massive depreciation without renovation.
“Government has taken the first set of three schools after which, another set will be selected and, others subsequently for complete rehabilitation.”
Gaidam said government would equip the laboratories and provide instructional materials to boost the quality of education.
The governor cautioned contractors to execute the projects according to specifications in the contractual agreement.
“Government should have value for money expended on the rehabilitation of these projects and contractors who performed well will be reengaged for other projects,’’ he said.
Gaidam said more teachers would be employed to improve manpower in all schools across the state.
NAN reports that classrooms, laboratories, hostels and staff quarters constructed 36 years ago are being rehabilitated. (NAN)
