Birnin Kebbi, Jan. 12, 2017 (NAN) The Kebbi State Fire Service has spent N5 million on procurement of fire- fighting equipment and repair of its operational vehicles.
Alhaji Bello Zagga, the state director of fire service, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN)in Birnin Kebbi on Thursday.
Zagga said the department had repaired 12 fire-fighting vehicles and procured fire-fighting chemicals and protective jackets worth N2.5 million.
He said another N2.5 million was spent on repairing the old fire fighting vehicles, adding that the local government offices would be made more functional and effective.
Zagga said the department had established operational offices across the 21 local government areas and would recruit additional staff that would be in charge of the offices.
He commended the efforts of the stakeholders such as the state emergency management agency and other relevant agencies for their complementing efforts in disaster management. (NAN)
